PINTXOS by bàrbar Brings Basque Bites to Wan Chai Experience Bite-Size Bliss with Authentic Spanish Flavors

Explore the vibrancy of Spanish cuisine with Epicurean Group as it unveils its latest concept in Wan Chai, PINTXOS by bàrbar. As the group’s fourth Spanish concept, PINTXOS by bàrbar joins an ever-growing portfolio of authentic Spanish experiences that have refreshed Hong Kong’s Spanish dining scene and includes Pica Pica, BÀRBAR, and AIRE — which opened in Causeway Bay in December 2024. This latest addition marks an exceptional milestone, as Epicurean Group steps forward to become the only group in Hong Kong with four renowned Spanish restaurants – PINTXOS by bàrbar is opening in early April.

A warm, rustic eatery filled with antique charm, PINTXOS by bàrbar pays homage to the spirited gastronomic culture of Spain, particularly that of the Basque Country in sunny San Sebastián. These small, savory bites (pintxos meaning “to puncture,” referring to the toothpick) are traditionally served on bread. Conceptualized by Edgard Sanuy Barahona, Head of Spanish Restaurant Division at Epicurean Group; and under his guidance, the Head Chef, the talented 25-year-old Xavier Pla from Spain, offers an innovative menu with a Hong Kong twist: a “Spanish Finger food” experience where guests select freshly made pintxos from an order form for a shared platter. While some retain the classic baguette base, others explore diverse flavors and styles suited to the local palate.

 

Much like well-loved tapas, pintxos has since evolved to become a delightful social pastime, admired for the colorful, creative selection while offering the perfect one-bite sampler between conversations. At the new Ship Street location, the lively dining culture will be authentically reimagined with a seasonal menu showcasing fresh Spanish ingredients and a flavorful palate of various textures.
