A Brand New Range of Real First and Business Class Meals Prepared by Experienced Airline Chefs, Ready to Enjoy in your Own Home
With much of the world still closed and only a few diehard travellers taking to the skies, Hong Kong’s airline chefs have found themselves woefully underemployed in the past year or so. With this in mind, and the realisation that most of us are now preparing more meals at home and have limited opportunities to fly, the masterminds behind Skyline Chef have come up with a unique new concept that brings the best of airline First and Business Class menus to the comfort of your own home.
Now on sale in Hong Kong, Skyline Chef is a new range of initially three First Class and three Business Class gourmet pre-cooked meals carefully selected from a library of over 300,000 airline recipes. They’re cooked here in Hong Kong in the same kitchens near the airport by some of the same 15 chefs who’ve been feeding First and Business Class passengers flying out of Hong Kong for many years. But instead of heading for the skies, these meals are carefully sealed in retort packs for home cooks to pick up from Park N Shop and warm up in their own kitchens.
In the First Class collection, customers will find Braised Beef Rib Finger in Red Wine, Sous Vide Pork Belly Chopped Chilli and Szechuan Spicy Chicken. While Taiwainese Braised Vegan Pork, Bhindi Masala (Indian Okra Masala)and Sous Vide Tandoori Chicken will be available from the Business Class range.
These sky-high favourites are now available exclusively at GREAT, TASTE, FUSION and select PARKnSHOP stores – at surprisingly down to earth prices, ranging from HK$51.5 to HK$91.9
The first six dishes were selected partly because of their proven popularity in the sky and partly because of the cooking complexity. What would normally require strenuous effort in preparation and cooking is now extremely accessible within the comforts of home.
The reason these pre-packaged meals can so accurately mirror the quality of the skies lies in the premium local and international ingredients used. Skyline Chefs select only the best meat and produce available to include in their recipes.
“We hope Skyline Chef will be well received by busy Hong Kong people who want to treat themselves to First and Business Class meals at home – especially while we can’t travel. If these sell as well as we hope, we’ll be adding more recipes,” said David Meredith, the founder of Skyline Chef whose company Tas’Mania Limited has been importing Australian food and drinks into Hong Kong for the past 10 years.
“And after the launch in Hong Kong we would love to take these Made in Hong Kong recipes out to the world”, said co-founder Calvin Yuen.
Thanks to Skyline Chef, those longing to travel while still grounded can still get a taste of luxury and travel through Skyline Chef’s reminder of premium in-flight dining.
“Their portability and ease of preparation also make them suitable for domestic travel too. They’d be great to take with you on a camping trip, for instance,” says David.
Skyline Chef products are currently already available at around 40 outlets including GREAT, TASTE, FUSION and selected PARKnSHOP, and will continue to grow its distribution network in coming weeks.
