CRUST Sorrento is now open on the Tseung Kwan O South Waterfront Promenade, introducing the authentic street-food flavours of Naples and the romantic Sorrento coast.
The traditional ‘pasticceria ristorante’ extends the expanding CRUST Italian brand, combining an authentic Neapolitan ‘grab and go’ pastry shop with specialty regional pizzas, focaccias, pastas, salads and dessert classics.
The sun-kissed design style is similarly reminiscent of a harbour-side Mediterranean café – in bright white and pale blue shades of Southern Italy, with decorative mosaic tiling and cascading greenery, complete with breezy, pet-friendly outdoor seating. This makes Sorrento an ideal place to linger, as well as for more casual grab and go items.
CRUST Sorrento extends the winning formula of brand flagship CRUST Italian, which opened last year to rave reviews and strong Italian community support at the iconic Heritage Woo Cheong Pawn Shop on Johnston Road in Wan Chai.
The latest community-style Tseung Kwan O waterfront venue follows hot-on-the-heels of CRUST Amalfi opening this summer at Tsim Sha Tsui lifestyle hub K11 Musea.
On the menu, flavoursome Napoli pizza favourites include Sisona pizza with a giant burrata, pesto and yellow tomatoes (HK158), Carbonara Pizza with smoked bacon and egg cream (HK$ 148), and Tartufo Pizza with mushroom, porcini, mozzarella and truffle (HK$148).
Hybrid foot-long bread pizza Panuozzo specialties include cooked ham and smoked provola (HK$108), and smoked salmon, avocado cream, lettuce and marinated onion (HK$158).
Perfect for parties, Neapolitan Tray Pizza (HK$40) features six different toppings from margherita, carbonara and spicy to ham, rocket and parmesan; bolognese, beef ragout, tomatoes and parmesan fondue; and mixed mushrooms with buffalo mozzarella and truffle sauce.
Regional specialties extend to sandwich-style Focaccia with mascarpone, mortadella and pistachio (HK$128); eggplant with tomato sauce & ricotta (HK$138); and mozzarella and tomato (HK$148).
Pasta choices priced from HK$128 – 188 include spaghetti carbonara, seafood linguine, Tagliatelle with Neapolitan meatballs, and gnocchi Sorrentina, with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes.
Among salads, Amalfi salad combines sweetcorn, tuna, olives and hard-boiled egg (HK$138), Caprese salad features mozzarella, tomato, basil pesto and croutons (HK$158), and Sorrento’s signature Crocchettone with Mortadella, mascarpone & pistachio (HK$128).
Classic Neapolitan desserts by seasoned pastry chef David Puig Zaragoza complete the menu, from flaky fruit pastries and enticing tiramisu to authentic cornetto ice cream cones.
A highly-motivated and experienced Executive Pastry Chef with over 13 years of experience, David has worked in kitchens around the world from Spain, Tokyo to the Langham hotel, Conrad Hotel and Intercontinental Grand Stanford in Hong Kong.
CRUST Italian is the brainchild of founder Tony Paese, who formerly managed Aqua Hong Kong and Four Seasons restaurants in Miami, Dubai and Russia.
“As fellow Southern Italians in Hong Kong, we jokingly dreamed of one day creating our own authentic pasticceria and ristorante celebrating the warm hospitality and nostalgia of our home cuisine,” said Tony.
“That dream has now become reality, bringing the community together all through the day with an authentic food experience of Naples and Amalfi, presenting many specialties largely unavailable outside of Italy.”
CRUST Sorrento opens on 4th of November at shop 05 at GF @ Monterey complex, 23 Tong Chun st. Tseung Kwan O.
