Located above Michelin Two-starred Écriture, Plume is destined to be Hong Kong’s hottest new wine bar, a rooftop destination for all-day drinking and dining
Launching just in time for the holiday season, Le Comptoir unveils Plume, a buzzy new wine bar boasting an enviable sky-high location and all the wow factors to be the talk of the town. Located atop architectural icon and gastronomic destination, H Queen’s, Plume brings destination dining to the most stylish rooftop in Central, with an extensive European-focused wine list to accompany contemporary French bar bites courtesy of Écriture’s Executive Chef, Maxime Gilbert.
Since opening in April 2018, Écriture has earned its stripes as one of the most highly acclaimed fine dining establishments in Hong Kong, continuously awarded two Michelin Stars between 2019-2021, in addition to ranking No. 87 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Top 100 List, as voted on by World’s 50 Best Restaurants. The launch of Plume signifies the next step in the evolution of Écriture; while the latter translates to ‘writing’ in French, the moniker ‘Plume’ denotes a close association, referencing the traditional feather quills used for penning custom letters in pre-digital days.
Now open from noon to 10pm daily, Plume offers a more casual, all-day affair in contrast to the meticulous tasting menu served downstairs, with a bespoke experience built around a world-class wine list and elevated bar bites. Seated amongst the comfortable lounge chairs, with accents of grey and yellow lending the space a relaxed and refined vibe, guests can tuck into modern French dishes complemented by a 500-reference-strong wine list and a collection of premium cigars, all set to the backdrop of the twinkling Central cityscape and iconic Victoria Harbour in the distance.
Catering to everyone from the burgeoning enthusiast to serious oenophiles, the wine list has been thoughtfully curated by Chef Maxime and Marc-Antoine Compper, Director of Operations and Head Sommelier for both Écriture and Plume. Old World wines feature prominently on the menu, including an exquisite selection from Burgundy and Bordeaux, rounded out by boutique vintners and lesser-known producers. A selection of Champagne, white wine and rosé are ideally suited for the balmy outdoor weather, available by the glass or in large-format sizes—the latter perfect for group gatherings and events. With bottles starting from $350, Plume fosters a welcoming environment for anyone looking to deepen their appreciation of wine and perhaps discover their new favourite bottle; in addition, a selection of classic long drinks and a cigar menu including premium brands such as Arturo Fuente OpusX and Cohiba and Flor de Selva, are readily available to take the edge off a long work day.
To pair with the extensive wine list is a mouth-watering menu of Gallic bites created by Chef Maxime and his team. Tuck into classic bistro dishes such as the sumptuous Homemade French Toast, Croque Monsieur blanketed in bubbling, browned cheese, and Beef Tartare, the latter made with premium Australian Wagyu beef. For those looking to indulge, Écriture’s signature Caviar Tart makes a compelling companion for a glass of effervescent Champagne. Meanwhile, early risers can look forward to a breakfast set due to launch soon, featuring an array of classic French pastries with rustic homemade bread paired with coffee or fresh juice. Alternatively, stop by for a delightful after-work aperitif: fresh oysters with shallot vinegar; cheese plates sourced from world-renowned fromagier, Bernard Antony; and Oteiza charcuterie flown in from the heart of Basque Country.
From wine aficionados to discerning culinarians, Plume offers an unparalleled drinking experience, set to take the city’s rooftop bar scene to stratospheric heights. Marked by attentive service and personalised wine pairing knowledge from expert sommeliers, Plume affords an inviting space to expand your wine education, while those just looking for a casual aperitif or post-prandial nightcap can toast to breezy evenings as the sun sets behind the city’s concrete jungle. So, grab a glass, light a cigar, escape and unwind in sophisticated fashion this season at Plume—the ultimate getaway in the heart of Central.
