Classified Reinvigorates Casual Dining with a Brand New Seasonal Menu

From Cha Chaan Teng-inspired macaroni to Southern fried chicken, find signature international comfort food all in one place

Neighbourhood café Classified is presenting a brand new menu this season, with a focus on elevating already acclaimed, time-honoured dishes while adding a few new international elements to the mix. The revamped menu showcases enhanced family favourites, new lean and vegan options as well as South East Asian eats from both the Breakfast and All Day Dining offerings at all locations.

Classified takes the most important meal of the day seriously by serving healthy and hearty breakfasts from opening to 11:30AM. Taking cues from the local breakfast staples commonly found at cha chaan teng diners, Classified reimagines the macaroni in soup with its Cheese Sauce Macaroni (HK$88) rendition – think al dente noodles coated in velvety cheese with crisp bacon rashers on the side and topped with a sunny side up for that runny yolk creaminess.

Truly a breakfast for champions, the Fried Chicken (HK$108) is a hearty Southern dish to really kick start the day. Dipped in a homemade buttermilk batter and fried to golden perfection, the juicy fillet is served alongside a generous pour of house white gravy and a fried egg on the side.

To keep it light and refreshing for summer dining, Classified is also presenting a whole host of healthy picks to jumpstart the day. The Chia Pudding (HK$55) is a blend of chia seeds, milk and seasonal fruits; while the Tofu Florentine (HK$115) ticks all of the boxes for a vegan preference, featuring a healthy alternative hollandaise recipe; or grab a quick and easy Granola & Yogurt Bowl (HK$65) to get in all the fruits and fibres early in for the day.

For lunch and beyond, Classified has given its All Day Dining menu a refresh to surprise its guests. Continuing its nod to Asian cuisine for another season, new dishes like the Spicy Thai Beef Salad (HK$108) excites the tastebuds with delicately sliced rare beef strips. Tossed with rocket, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and dressed in a lemon juice with chilli, the dish is finished with a herbaceous mint, coriander and fried shallot medley.

Also influenced by South Eastern cuisine is Classified’s take on the Vietnamese Beef Pho (HK$98). A distinctive element of the dish is its intensely flavourful broth – with rump steak, beef bone and herbs like cloves and star anise boiled and brewed for 72 hours to fully enhance all the flavours and achieve its umami richness.

For those who didn’t quite make it for the breakfast run, the much loved fried chicken makes another appearance in the All Day menu presented as the ultimate sandwich option. The Fried Chicken Burger (HK$128) comes with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, jalapeno and a slathering of tartar sauce between two toasty buns, next to golden French fries.

One of Classified’s most loved dishes, the Beer Battered Fish & Chips (HK$138) has also been changed up. The new menu features the same good ol’ recipe with a juicy Barramundi and introduces a new, flakier and crispier batter.

A newcomer to the pasta section of the menu is a lighter and more refreshing option that is much preferred this time of year. The Linguine alle Vongole (HK$148) uses locally-sourced fresh clams. Cooked until tender with white wine, coriander, parsley, chilli and olive oil. The minimalistic ingredients highlight the clams, allowing the brininess and meaty texture to hold up the whole dish.

No meal is complete without a grand finale. Known for its artisanal cheese selection, the Classified Cheese Platter is not to be missed. With three, five and seven cheese spreads to choose from, guests can opt for their favourite choices, or leave it to the experts to curate a board based on preference of aroma, flavour and texture. (HK$180/3, HK$270/5, HK$360/7).

On a sweeter note, the traditional Tiramisu (HK$68) is failproof. Layering ladyfingers, coffee, mascarpone and chocolate, the delicate dessert pairs wonderfully with a cup of roasted coffee with Classified’s signature Urban Coffee Roaster blend.

A fantastic way to sneak a sensible nibble of sugar at the end of a meal, the Café Gourmand (HK$78) offers bite sized treats of macaron, brownie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream accompanied by a shot of espresso. Guests can indulge in a rather guilt-free variety of Classified desserts in small portion sizes.
